The Browner the Bananas the better
The Browner the bananas are the more flavor they will give. If you don’t have brown bananas you can pop them in the oven at 250 degrees for 15 minutes it will help make them sweeter and soften them. Never use unripe bananas, they will not mash correctly and they will be lacking flavor.

Browned Butter Banana Bars
These browned butter banana bars will melt in your mouth! From the golden brown butter frosting to the moist banana bars, this goes perfectly with a hot cup of coffee!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Browned Butter Frosting:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Method
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, add in sour and eggs scraping down the sides of the bowl, add the mashed banana and vanilla.
- Slowly add the flour mixture beat until incorporated.
- Spread into a buttered 15x10x10-inch jelly roll pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until it is golden brown around the edges.
- Browned Butter Frosting:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat melt the butter until it becomes a golden brown about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a mixing bowl beat together the browned butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, and vanilla beat for another 2-3 minutes.
- Frost banana bars and sprinkle with pecans.
