A delicious buttery Cuban pastry filled with guava and cream cheese, also called Pastelitos de Guayaba y Queso.
Ingredients
- •1 (17.3 oz) package puff pastry sheets, thawed
- •1 egg
- •1 tablespoon water
- •1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- •1/4 cup powdered sugar
- •1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- •1/2 cup guava paste or jelly
- •Sugar, for sprinkling
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat egg and water together. Set aside.
- 2In a medium bowl mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- 3Unfold the puff pastry and cut into 4 squares, so you will have 8 squares total.
- 4Divide the cream cheese mixture and guava jelly or paste in the center of each pastry, leaving about half an inch border around the edges. Fold the squares over so they look like a triangle and press the edges closed with a fork. Lightly brush the pastries with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
- 5Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve!
